Home is the story of three generations of an Indian family that sell saris. As a traditional Indian family, they all live together under the same roof. Nisha, of the third generation, is willing to adapt to modern times, but it is very difficult for her to go against tradition and do not disappoint her family and the society she lives in.
I think Manju Kapur is the Indian writer I have most enjoyed. Her writing is really beautiful, and her tone is not of censure; she just tells a story describing the actions and thinking of all characters in an objective way.
A great book to get to know the way of living and thinking in traditional India and to understand the pressure faced by Indian women from traditional families living in modern India.
